Getting started

What is a VPN?

A VPN (Virtual Private Network) is an online security service that allows you to secure your internet connection by creating an encrypted tunnel between your device and a remote server. It helps protect your data, identity, and online privacy.

Why should I use a VPN?

Using a VPN offers several benefits, including online privacy protection, bypassing geographic restrictions, securing public Wi-Fi connections, and safeguarding against online tracking.

Is there a free version?

Yes. Four locations — France, the United States, the United Kingdom and Germany — are open on the free tier, with no time limit and no card. Premium adds the remaining countries and removes the queue on busy servers.

Do I need an account to start?

Not for the free tier in the browser extension: install it, pick a country, done. An account is needed for Premium, so the subscription can follow you across devices.

When something does not work

Why is my connection slow on extension?

If you're using the free servers, it's possible that many users are also using them. This will reduce your connection speed.

Why can't I connect on Firefox?

If you have installed several VPN / Proxy extensions, they may interfere with the SandVPN extension. Uninstall or deactivate these extensions, then try again.

A site still blocks me even with the VPN on. Why?

Some services keep lists of known VPN address ranges and refuse them. When that happens no provider gets you through reliably. Trying a different country sometimes helps, since the block is usually applied per address range rather than per country.

How do I check the VPN is actually working?

Open any IP lookup page while connected. It should report the country you selected rather than your own. If it still shows your country, the extension is off, or the tab was loaded before you switched.

Plans, payment and refunds

How to cancel or get a refund (30-day money-back guarantee)?

Contact our customer support (in the contact section of our website).

How do I stop a subscription renewing?

Cancel from your account page and the subscription runs to the end of the period already paid for, then stops. Nothing is charged after that, and you keep access until the end date.

Which payment methods do you take?

Card (Visa and Mastercard), PayPal, and Bitcoin. Crypto is there for the same reason as the rest of the product: it does not require you to hand over a name.

How many devices can I use at once?

The subscription is per person, not per device. Sign in to the extension on your laptop, the app on your phone, and the Windows client on your desktop with the same account.

Privacy and logging

Does a VPN cover everything?

It covers the connection: your address is hidden from the sites you open, and your traffic from the local network. The account layer is separate — what you type into a signup form is handled by disposable inboxes and throwaway identities, which is why those are part of the suite.

Extension or the full app — which do I need?

The extension covers browser traffic only, installs in seconds and needs no account. The Windows and Android apps cover the whole device, including other programs, games and background services. Most people start with the extension.

Does it work with Netflix and other streaming?

Often, and it depends on the platform rather than on us. A catalogue is tied to the country of your IP address, so a location in that country is what changes what you see. Some services also refuse known VPN address ranges outright — when that happens, no provider gets through reliably, and trying another country is the only thing that sometimes helps.

Is it worth turning on for café or hotel Wi-Fi?

That is the case where it matters most. On an open network anyone else connected can read whatever is not encrypted, and the network operator sees every domain you open. With the tunnel on, they see one encrypted stream to one address instead. It costs one click and it is the situation the free tier was built for.
